Job Summary

The Poughkeepsie City School District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to join our team. As an Athletic Trainer, you will be responsible for providing care, prevention, and treatment of athletic injuries to student athletes. You will work closely with coaches, athletes, and medical personnel to ensure the health and well-being of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first aid, CPR, and emergency transportation as needed
  • Conduct initial evaluations and make decisions regarding injury management
  • Establish and implement programs to minimize injuries, including conditioning programs and equipment selection
  • Provide information and education to student athletes, parents, coaches, and school staff on sound health habits and injury prevention practices
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required
Requirements
  • Valid New York State licensure as a certified athletic trainer
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to interview student athletes and obtain necessary information
  • Ability to motivate and encourage injured athletes during reconditioning
  • Ability to evaluate, plan, and coordinate the appropriate care of injured athletes
Working Conditions

The Athletic Trainer will work in a fast-paced environment, providing care and support to student athletes during practices and games. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $65,000-$68,000 per year, with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
