Job Summary

Gana-A'Yoo Services Corporation, a renowned provider of excellence in delivery, performance, and customer satisfaction, is seeking a Food Services Steward at McMurdo Station. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service and supporting efforts to produce and serve high-quality food while maintaining sanitation standards in food service areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe workplace and prioritize safety in all aspects of your work.
  • Work in a physically challenging and atypical environment with a positive attitude and self-motivation.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team to achieve exceptional service standards.
  • Perform daily tasks efficiently and thoroughly, as instructed by the Dining Attendant, Lead.
  • Ensure all aspects of safety and sanitation in the kitchen, dining, and service areas, including proper equipment usage and safety procedures.
  • Stock and replenish ancillary food items and non-food items as detailed by tasking sheets.
  • Clean and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, and equipment, monitoring water temperature and chemical levels.
  • Prepare and chill beverages and frozen dessert mixes to support community usage.
  • Maintain clean and organized service, dining, and work areas.
  • Select and present food items during meal times and store leftovers properly.
  • Follow proper thawing procedures for frozen items and label and date leftovers accordingly.
  • Discard food waste and non-food waste in a timely manner, adhering to approved waste management guidelines.
  • Monitor coffee and beverage consumption and replenish as needed.
  • Coordinate with Cooks to ensure timely transfer and scraping of dirty pots to the pot-washing area.
  • Prepare and distribute bagged lunches for departing field parties and flight crews as directed.
  • Meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting and moving up to the safety regulation maximum and performing repetitive motions, standing for up to 9 hours daily, and working on hands and knees.
  • Support the achievement of ASC metrics and comply with all ASC Environmental Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance, requirements and goals.
  • Work to achieve ASC goals and contractual commitments.
  • Be available to work on a night shift and adapt to variable dayshift work hours with minimal notice.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and tasking responsibilities in food services and janitorial duties.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and contribute suggestions for improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty.
Requirements
  • High school education or GED.
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler certificate prior to deployment to Antarctica.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Valid U.S. Passport.
  • Minimum of six months related experience.
  • US citizenship or permanent residency.
