Job Summary

Townsen Memorial Hospital is a leading healthcare provider with a strong commitment to emergency care, outpatient surgery, and diagnostics. We are seeking a skilled Preoperative Registered Nurse to join our team at our facility in Humble, TX.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure a clean and therapeutic environment for all patients in the preoperative area.
  • Verify the availability of necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Admit patients to the unit and prepare them for scheduled procedures.
  • Conduct initial assessments and determine nursing needs, communicating additional discharge requirements as necessary.
  • Explain nursing procedures to patients to reduce anxiety.
  • Monitor patients' physical and mental status.
  • Report significant changes in patients' medical conditions to the admitting physician or anesthesiologist.

Requirements
  • Knowledge of computer software applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
  • Ability to diagnose, plan, and implement nursing interventions and evaluate patient condition.
  • Compliance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Continuing education and mandatory programs.
  • Nursing practice within the scope of the Texas Nurse Practice Act.

Education and Experience
  • College degree required; minimum of an Associate's Degree with a Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience in a perioperative environment.
  • Registered Nurse in the State of Texas; active and unencumbered license.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Work Schedule
  • Monday-Friday.
  • 8-hour dayshift.
