The Behavioral Health Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the mental health and well-being of students at NC State University. This position will be responsible for providing mental health consultations, clinical services, and outreach programs to students.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement mental health programs and services that meet the needs of students.
- Conduct mental health assessments, brief counseling, referrals, and supportive counseling to students.
- Provide crisis intervention assessments and coordinate access to services through medical clinics.
- Consult with co-treating providers, including psychiatric, medical, and nutrition professionals, to provide integrated service provision.
- Participate in policy development and operations as directed by administration.
- Participate on an Eating Disorder Treatment Team.
- Determine needs and areas of overlap, redundancy, and/or common goals between Student Health and the Counseling Center with regards to health services provision for NC State students.
- Develop and participate in Outreach programming.
- Consult with faculty, staff, parents, and others.
- Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience.
- Experience working collaboratively in a mental health setting.
- Established commitment to multicultural competencies.
- Strong clinical skills.
- Experience handling crisis situations.
