The Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by providing essential support to the anesthesia clinician during surgical procedures. This includes preparing and maintaining equipment, supplies, and patient monitoring systems to ensure a safe and optimal patient experience.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and organize equipment and supplies for scheduled and emergent cases, ensuring that anesthesia staff have the necessary tools for routine and complex procedures.
- Transport and set up equipment needed for procedures, including laryngoscope blades, monitors, and oxygen tanks, ensuring that all equipment is decontaminated and in good working condition.
- Follow department procedures for the proper procurement and handling of non-controlled medications, I.V. fluids, and contrast media in the surgical services area.
- Perform thorough room turnovers between procedures, including cleaning and disinfection, restocking of anesthesia supplies, and cleaning/storing of anesthesia equipment and instrumentation as needed.
- Calibrate and troubleshoot minor malfunctions of anesthesia equipment, removing and reporting any damaged or unsafe equipment.
- Respond promptly to on-call situations as scheduled.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- 1 year of OR experience is preferred.
