Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Specialist to join our team at the State of Louisiana. As a Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients and/or clients, and performing advanced level duties involving reviews, interpretation, and decisions of medical certification/eligibility for Medicaid expenditures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer nursing home/hospital level of care assessments of needed skilled nursing interventions in accordance with the Act 421 CMO assessment tool.
  • Assess children for substantial functional limitations through medical record reviews, parent interviews, and review of existing documentation.
  • Make determinations of whether a child has the level of disability resulting in the need for long-term care and certain medical interventions.
  • Conduct annual level of care re-assessments for all individuals in the Act 421 CMO program using nursing home/hospital level of care criteria.
  • Work collaboratively with the DD Director and the identified LDH contract monitor on all matters associated with the CEA for administration of the Act 421 CMO waiver.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid Louisiana license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
  • One year of professional nursing experience.
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing will substitute for the required experience.
  • Master's degree in nursing or public health will substitute for the required experience.
