We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Special Education Assistant to join our team at the Cedar Rapids Community School District. As a Special Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, working closely with teachers and other staff members to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support Student Learning: Assist students with special needs in a variety of settings, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas.
- Supervise Students: Provide supervision and support to students during transitions, meals, and other activities.
- Implement Behavior Management Strategies: Work with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement behavior management plans to support students with challenging behaviors.
- Assist with Daily Tasks: Assist students with daily tasks, such as personal hygiene, mealtime, and transportation.
- Communicate with Parents and Staff: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, teachers, and other staff members to ensure a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Education: Two-year post-secondary education or Paraeducator certificate required.
- Skills: Ability to work well with students, teachers, and other staff members; flexibility in working with classroom teachers; good oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Cedar Rapids Community School District is committed to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. As a Special Education Assistant, you will work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas. You will be required to stand, walk, and move frequently throughout the day, and may be required to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
