The Construction Project Manager is accountable for delivering technical leadership in the administration and supervision of construction initiatives, ensuring compliance with the organization's standards and protocols. This role is vital in maintaining construction timelines, financial plans, safety regulations, approved designs, specifications, codes, and quality benchmarks. The Project Manager cultivates collaborative relationships with trade partners, municipal inspectors, internal stakeholders, and other team members impacted by the projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and enforce the organization's health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with safety regulations at construction sites and identifying potential hazards through regular inspections.
  • Ensure thorough investigation and prompt reporting of any incidents.
  • Collaborate closely with the project manager to guarantee that timelines, budgets, scope, and quality objectives are consistently met.
  • Resolve on-site conflicts by adjusting materials, modifying construction plans, and managing budgets in line with organizational standards, as well as addressing warranty claims during the initial year.
  • Assess the necessity for budget variances and make adjustments as required.
  • Monitor construction progress and confirm adherence to scheduled timelines.
  • Conduct routine evaluations of craftsmanship and quality, ensuring installations meet specifications.
  • Determine when a project is ready to transition to the next phase of construction.
  • Ensure compliance with local and state building regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Review drawings and specifications for various tasks, ensuring accurate information is communicated to frontline supervisors and subcontractor leaders.
  • Work with the management team to provide feedback and enhance project planning activities, including vendor selection and performance evaluations.
  • Authorize payments for received materials and completed work, ensuring satisfaction with the quality of work.
  • Assist the project manager in pre-project budgeting and scheduling efforts.
  • May participate in procurement activities as needed.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure timely and accurate completion of construction tasks.
  • May oversee project scopes that include civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, or a combination of these trades.
  • Prepare regular reports on field activities, such as daily or weekly progress updates.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
  • A 10-hour OSHA certification is required; a 30-hour OSHA certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in the commercial or industrial construction sector is desirable.
  • Familiarity with various engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveying.
  • Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Project is desirable.
  • Highly motivated with a strong commitment to excellence and initiative.
  • Strong work ethic, with a willingness to ensure tasks are completed correctly, efficiently, and safely.
  • Capable of critical thinking to adapt to changes and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and clients.
  • A team player who can also work independently to achieve deadlines and objectives.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills, with keen attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standard physical demands, including bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, and reaching, may be required occasionally at construction sites.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Availability to work weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds, with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • May be required to work at heights of up to 100 feet.
