Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Training Manager to join our team at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL). As a key member of our Engineering Directorate, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive training program for our engineering staff, focusing on systems engineering, digital engineering, and continuous development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and conduct training programs for engineering staff, including onboarding, fusion engineering, digital engineering, and systems engineering.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create training materials and conduct formal training programs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and develop metrics for measuring their impact.
  • Provide strategic training input to enhance PPPL's capabilities in systems engineering and engineering integration.
  • Plan, organize, and develop training curricula, materials, and programs.
  • Analyze training needs and develop both formal and informal programs to address them.
  • Evaluate third-party training providers and manage the delivery of internal and externally provided training.
  • Mentor engineers and their managers in developing individual development plans to support retention and consistency across projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (advanced degree preferred).
  • Focus on Systems Engineering or Multi-Disciplined Engineering background preferred.
  • Training program development and instructor experience.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience, preferably in a scientific or R&D environment.
  • At least three years of experience in an engineering leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of techniques for delivering training materials, including presentation materials, training guides/manuals, course evaluations, etc.
  • Knowledge of techniques for coordinating training scheduled on training requirements.
  • Ability to lead and work within and between engineering teams.
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of researchers, engineers, and technicians.
  • Competence in systems thinking, requirements decomposition, verification and validation, program management, and risk management.
