Position Overview:

This role involves executing cleaning tasks in designated areas while adhering to established schedules and specific protocols to ensure a hygienic, organized, and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

The Sanitation Specialist contributes to the prevention of cross-contamination, managing bacteria, odors, and maintaining appropriate aseptic conditions. Responsibilities may include assisting with relocations, recycling efforts, supply deliveries, and the disposal of waste, including biohazard materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and uphold a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in assigned areas by following departmental guidelines and procedures (20%).
  • Ensure proper disposal of biohazardous materials in compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations (20%).
  • Maintain equipment, cleaning carts, buckets, floor machines, and supply closets to present a professional appearance for the facility (20%).
  • Adhere to personal protective equipment requirements to safeguard against exposure to blood, potentially infectious materials, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances (5%).
  • Follow established hand hygiene protocols in accordance with hospital/departmental policies (5%).
  • Complete and maintain all carpet and hard surface flooring as per departmental procedures (10%).
  • Observe safety measures when operating equipment and report any mechanical, structural, or electrical issues following safety policies (5%).
  • Utilize wet floor signage to prevent slips and falls by patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring compliance with safety practices (5%).
  • Engage with patients and visitors using scripted dialogue to foster communication and demonstrate high standards of conduct (5%).
  • Assist with the movement of furniture, equipment, supplies, recycling, and setups as requested by supervisors or staff (5%).
  • Respond promptly to pages or phone calls as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:
Preferred 6 months to 1 year of experience in cleaning or housekeeping within a healthcare setting, though not mandatory.

Conditions of Employment:
Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment for individuals working in clinical settings.

If not currently vaccinated, candidates must receive the vaccination prior to the start date unless an approved medical or religious exemption is obtained.
