Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Law Enforcement Officer. As a Police Officer with the City of Canon City, you will play a critical role in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce federal, state, and municipal laws and ordinances
  • Prevent and investigate crimes, and apprehend suspects
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public, including responding to calls for service and providing information and assistance
  • Participate in patrol duties, including riding in marked or unmarked police vehicles
  • Assist with special events and emergency situations, such as natural disasters and civil disturbances
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at time of swearing in
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid Colorado driver's license, or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire
  • Must be eligible for Colorado Police Officer Standards and Training Certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a field closely related to law enforcement
  • Associates degree in criminology, criminal justice, or related area
Working Conditions

This position works in an indoor and outdoor environment and requires the ability to perform physically demanding activities in a variety of settings. The employee is sometimes required to drive, including marked and unmarked police vehicles. May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 175 pounds.
