Key Responsibilities
  • Product Design
    • Lead new product design efforts from initial concept to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution.
    • Update and improve existing product designs, leveraging design and engineering principles to drive innovation.
    • Develop detailed designs of components, assemblies, and subassemblies, incorporating tolerance analysis and GD&T as applicable.
    • Create and maintain complete product data packages, including design drawings, bill of materials, tech packs, and component specifications.
    • Document design and analysis efforts in technical reports and design review presentations.
    • Manage project budgets and schedules, estimating tasks and resources, and coordinating with stakeholders as necessary.
    • Collaborate with product management to develop product requirements and specifications.
    • Work with operations and manufacturing engineering to implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and ease of assembly techniques.
    • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers and processes with the supply chain team.
  • Prototyping and Testing
    • Utilize rapid manufacturing and onsite equipment to build proof of concept prototypes.
    • Develop test protocols and plans to validate designs and ensure compliance to applicable standards.
    • Perform product testing using the onsite test lab and develop detailed test reports.
    • Support field test programs using industry experts and CMC School.
  • Research and Experimentation
    • Explore new concepts, ideas, processes, and technologies to enhance design processes and define product strategy.
    • Document and present learning to a cross-functional team.
    • Maintain regular and punctual attendance and comply with all company policies and procedures.
    Requirements
    • BSME or equivalent experience required, with a minimum of 5 years' experience and 10 years of related experience preferred.
    • 5 years of 3D solid modeling experience required, with SolidWorks highly desirable.
    • A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
