Job Summary:

The Phlebotomist plays a critical role in providing high-quality care by collecting and processing blood specimens with minimal patient discomfort. This position requires expertise in blood draws, specimen preparation, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Explain the venipuncture process to patients in a clear and courteous manner
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using straight needles and butterfly needles
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, and split specimens as required
  • Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and wear appropriate PPE
  • Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone calls
Requirements:
  • Experience in blood draws, labeling, and specimen preparation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain accurate records
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to put patients at ease
