Job Overview:
The Senior Guidance and Control (G&C) Engineer is responsible for developing innovative software solutions for advanced space and defense systems utilized by government and commercial entities, along with internal research and development initiatives.
This role involves the creation, integration, and deployment of sophisticated G&C algorithms and software for systems operating in diverse and challenging environments, including underwater, terrestrial, aerial, and extraterrestrial domains.
The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of dedicated Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineers focused on the design, development, testing, implementation, and operation of spacecraft GNC systems for missions targeting Earth, the Moon, and Mars.
We are looking for individuals who can thrive in a dynamic team environment while tackling complex GNC challenges and advancing GNC technologies essential for Human Exploration missions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess requirements, propose innovative solutions, and explore design alternatives to support G&C designs.
• Design G&C algorithms leveraging modern theories and established methodologies.
• Develop embedded software based on prototype algorithms.
• Analyze G&C designs to validate performance and functionality.
• Create and execute software tests to ensure compliance with established requirements.
• Investigate results to identify issues and formulate solutions for inefficiencies or problems.
• Prepare technical documentation, including data, procedures, reports, drawings, manuals, and other necessary materials.
• Engage with customers and stakeholders to clarify requirements and articulate design and deliverables.
• Monitor priorities, scope, schedule, and budget.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Proficient programming skills in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C/C++.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with GNC algorithms and real-time software development tools.
• Knowledge of project execution, including the design, development, and validation of real-time algorithms and software.
• Understanding of trajectory optimization, optimal control, and related techniques.
• Significant expertise in the design and analysis of control systems.
• Strong teamwork and project execution skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate tasks to team members.
Education:
• A Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
• A Master's or PhD in a relevant field is preferred.
Experience:
• 5-10 years of experience in Software Engineering or a related field is required.
Additional Information:
• Candidates selected for this position may be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
