POSITION OVERVIEW
The Urologist is tasked with delivering specialized urological care to patients, encompassing assessment, treatment, care planning, and evaluation of medical care. Adhering to federal and state regulations, the Urologist ensures optimal patient relations. This role involves the assessment and management of patients with various urological conditions, including but not limited to performing cystoscopy, transurethral surgeries, nephrectomy, vasectomy, varicocele treatment, advanced pediatric surgeries, pyeloplasty, epispadias, hypospadias repair, and gender assignment procedures. Effective communication with fellow physicians, staff, and patients is essential to meet patient needs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat disorders of the genitourinary system, including erectile dysfunction, infertility, incontinence, bladder cancer, prostate cancer, urethral stones, and premature ejaculation.
  • Document and review patient medical histories.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screenings, to identify prostate cancer.
  • Conduct abdominal, pelvic, or retroperitoneal surgical procedures.
  • Examine patients using diagnostic equipment, including radiographic machines and fluoroscopes, to assess the nature and extent of disorders or injuries.
  • Treat lower urinary tract dysfunctions utilizing equipment such as diathermy machines, catheters, cystoscopes, and radium emanation tubes.
  • Prescribe or administer treatments, including antibiotics and antiseptics, to address infections or injuries.
  • Provide urological consultations to other healthcare professionals.
  • Utilize non-traditional surgical methods for treating urological disorders, such as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, laparoscopy, and laser techniques.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a current DEA License.
  • Candidates must be board-certified or eligible in Urology.
  • Valid California Physician License.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Urology.
