Job Description

The Pharmacy Technician II plays a vital role in supporting pharmacists and managers in providing exceptional pharmacy services. This highly skilled technician has a proven track record of delivering high-quality results, working with minimal supervision, and adapting to new situations with ease. They possess above-average knowledge of their work, excellent customer service skills, and a strong ability to troubleshoot problems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patients, responding to their needs and concerns in a timely and courteous manner.
  2. Prescription Filling: Accurately and efficiently fill prescriptions, including inventory management, labeling, and restocking supplies.
  3. Register Operations: Ring up sales, complete Ohio State Board requirements, and troubleshoot any discrepancies.
  4. Insurance and Billing: Accurately and efficiently run new and refill prescriptions through the computer, finding and billing the correct insurance for the patient.
  5. File Management: File prescriptions and other pharmacy paperwork in an organized manner for easy retrieval.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Epic Willow Ambulatory, Epic Hyperspace, and Emporos (register system).
  • Ability to run and bring prescriptions back to the department, find and bill insurances, and ensure timely filling of prescriptions.
  • Knowledge of Meds to Beds process and ability to problem-solve insurance issues.
Leadership and Collaboration

Assists the Pharmacist in daily activities, answers the telephone in a timely and courteous manner, and assists in the orientation, teaching, and guidance of other pharmacy supportive personnel.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Re-orders drugs and supplies when stock is low or predetermined stock level indicated.
  • Maintains a safe environment according to policy and procedure.
  • Maintains the department in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
  • Follows departmental and hospital safety policies and procedures.

This role requires a high level of initiative, motivation, and flexibility, with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team. The Pharmacy Technician II must maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhere to departmental and hospital policies, and promote a positive image of The Christ Hospital Health Network and Department of Pharmacy Services.
