Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Coastal Gulf & International, Inc. is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of laboratory tests and results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures to determine chemical or physical characteristics of samples.
  • Assist in the setup, adjustment, and operation of laboratory equipment.
  • Calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure accurate analysis.
  • Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
  • Record test results and write test reports describing procedures used.
  • Understand and complete laboratory raw data sheets and make accurate entries into the LIMS database.
  • Ability to read and comprehend all analysis as well as safety standards in English, including ASTM, UOP, IP, and other well-defined analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory.
  • Exercise procedural, safety, and quality requirements specified in the Laboratory Manual & Safety Manual and company policies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related science preferred, or equivalent work experience; coupled with a minimum of one (2) year of direct transferable experience working in a laboratory.
  • Knowledgeable in ASTM standards.
  • Must be able to work with all chemical, petrochemical, and petroleum products.
  • Must be able to differentiate between colors accurately by sight.
  • Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) experience preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access preferred.
  • Have a great work history with a track record of being a responsible individual.
  • Detailed orientated.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment.
Working Conditions:

This position is performed in a Laboratory environment. The working environment and physical demands described here are representative, but not necessarily all-inclusive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Required to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms; and to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist body to fit and/or reach.
  • The employee's lifting requirement and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Be able to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea, when such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).
  • May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
