Humanities Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated individual to join our team as a full-time faculty member in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education Department at the University of Minnesota Crookston. The successful candidate will teach classes in Composition or Writing Studies, serve as the faculty director of the First-year Seminar Program, and contribute to the department's mission.

• Teach introductory composition and humanities courses, as well as more specialized advanced courses as needed.
• Oversee the design and assessment of the First-year Seminar Program (UMC 1200/UMC 1202) courses and provide oversight of the instructors.
• Advise students, participate in recruitment and retention efforts, and engage in department and campus service activities.
• Enhance programs and student experiences, provide service to the department, institution, and profession, and help expand our network with the industry to benefit our programs, student experience, and student employment opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with faculty colleagues and contribute to the department's mission.

• Master's degree in English, American Studies, Composition, Writing Studies, History, or a closely related field.
• Strong knowledge and experience with program assessment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to coordinate assessment and review of assessment data.
• Passion for teaching and student-centered service.
• Ability to relate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to deliver effective teaching in both the on-campus and online environments.
• Ability to demonstrate cultural competency.
• Commitment to an experiential educational philosophy within the scope of the land grant mission.
