The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) is a collaborative effort that brings together philanthropy, governments, technology, policy, and development partners to tackle the twin challenges of energy access and transition in emerging and developing countries. By 2030, GEAPP aims to expand clean energy access to one billion people, enable 150 million new jobs, and reduce 4 gigatons of future carbon emissions. This ambitious goal requires a compelling narrative that highlights the impact of their initiatives and showcases their mission.
Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Editorial Director to join our global team driving progress on the green energy movement. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive editorial strategy that amplifies GEAPP's mission and showcases the impact of their initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Craft engaging thought leadership articles, blogs, case studies, press releases, reports, and speeches that highlight GEAPP's mission and work at the nexus of energy access and transition for a global audience.
- Lead and oversee the management of key messaging across GEAPP's content library, including cross-organisational messaging tools, pitch decks, and brochures.
- Work closely with Alliance partners and GEAPP Leadership Council to co-create editorial content that drives GEAPP's communications, advocacy, and policy goals to achieve a just energy transition and universal energy access across emerging economies.
- Develop and implement an ambitious editorial strategy that tells impactful stories about GEAPP's work, integrating insights from across the organization and the broader climate and energy landscape.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A university degree in journalism, communications, media, international studies, climate, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience as a journalist, writer, editor, or editorial manager, with a strong understanding of current affairs, energy, climate, and development trends.
- Experience in renewable energy, climate change, or international development sectors is highly desirable.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling abilities, with a proven track record of producing compelling narratives for diverse voices and leveraging varied sources and research.
