About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Associate Food Scientist specializing in Meat Science to join our R&D Team in Omaha, Nebraska.

This is a great opportunity to begin or expand your career as a Food Scientist. As an Associate Food Scientist, you will use your meat science expertise to work on innovation and margin expansion projects on assigned brands.

Our Omaha office is located along the Missouri River, within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. We offer yoga or strength training classes at our onsite fitness center.

Our R&D facilities in Omaha are state-of-the-art, featuring a large super lab, open benchtop space for prototype development, a top-of-the-line culinary kitchen, and a 50,000 square foot pilot plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new products from concept to commercialization
  • Design and conduct plant trials and new product start-ups
  • Create product development schedules to meet project timelines
  • Work with pilot plant equipment
  • Design and complete experiments and prepare results for review
  • Guide product cuttings, plant trials, and testing

Requirements:

  • BS in Food Science or related field with meat science coursework
  • Approximately 1+ year relevant industry experience, including internships
  • Knowledge of food product design, formulation, ingredient functionality, and interaction
  • Experience with food industry standards of quality and food safety, and FDA regulations

Physical Exposures:

Work in and around cramped/confined spaces, climb to various heights, and exposure to manufacturing environments.

Use of tools, equipment, and machinery, with occasional travel up to 30% of the time.

Exposure to food tasting and smells, including all food allergens.
