Job Purpose:

The Teacher Speech Pathologist Special Education is dedicated to evaluating and supporting students as outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments and reevaluations in articulation, language, fluency, and voice.
  • Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation/eligibility (MET) team to convey evaluation findings.
  • Engage in Eligibility and IEP meetings with parents and special education service providers to review evaluation outcomes, establish eligibility, and discuss the IEP.
  • Responsible for data collection, parent interviews, assessments, and report generation regarding evaluations.
  • Conduct Hearing and Vision Screenings as required.
  • Provide therapy services for students as specified in their IEP.
  • Enhance professional skills through participation in training sessions and educational courses.
  • Implement the district's educational philosophy and instructional objectives through teaching and actions.
  • Apply District initiatives relevant to the student's age, grade, and/or placement.
  • Regularly assess student progress and provide reports in accordance with district and state policies.
  • Ensure the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist administration in enforcing policies and rules governing student behavior and classroom management.
  • Be available to students and parents for educational purposes outside of instructional hours when necessary.
  • Attend and lead staff meetings and trainings as required; participate in staff committees.
  • Take responsibility for personal professional growth and development, staying updated with current literature and research.
  • Maintain accountability for any district-owned assets assigned and ensure their proper use.
  • Undergo periodic evaluations in accordance with state and board policies.
  • Uphold confidentiality in all professional matters.
  • Regular, dependable, in-person attendance is essential for this role.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Board of Education, superintendent, or other administrative personnel.
  • Comply with the Employee Conduct Policy and all district, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Education Level: Master's degree in Language Speech Pathology
  • Certifications: MDE License
  • Other Requirements:
Physical Demands:
  • The physical demands necessary for successful job performance include regular communication, standing, walking, sitting, and fine manipulation of hands. The role may require lifting and moving items up to 75 pounds.
Work Environment:
  • The work environment is dynamic, encompassing the entire school campus, both indoors and outdoors, with varying noise levels.
Terms of Employment:
Salary, days, and work year as determined by the Rankin County Board of Education.
Evaluation:
Job performance will be assessed according to the Rankin County School Board's evaluation policies.
