Job Summary

The Production Operator is responsible for the operation of computer-controlled process equipment, machinery, and evaluation of any process problems in addition to performing product quality testing.

This role is part of the manufacturing team at Darling Ingredients Inc. and requires a strong understanding of mechanical processes and equipment operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the wet pet process from raw material storage to finished goods storage.
  • Maintain a steady flow of material to equipment.
  • Maintain grinders at peak operating levels.
  • Monitor analytics to maintain rate per hour according to requirements.
  • Control the flow of material to mixers and to finished goods storage.
  • Monitor control panels and various gauges to accomplish process objectives.
  • Perform periodic preventative maintenance on all equipment in process.
  • Monitor machinery and bring any problems to the attention of the manager.
  • Ensure equipment and work area are clean after each shift.
  • Maintain safety as a top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of 1 year prior work experience, preferably in a wet pet facility or production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of mechanical processes and equipment operation.
  • Chemical manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic math skills and ability to compute decimals and percentages.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with minor problems involving equipment or various situations.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
Work Environment

This role will be carried out in a production facility that requires tolerance for wet and/or slippery floors, and high heat and/or cold temperatures.
