Senior Program Officer, Artificial Intelligence, Assessment

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Program Officer to lead our Artificial Intelligence (AI) Assessment Program. As a key member of our team, you will develop and manage a portfolio of investments to advance the use of AI in K-12 assessment, driving more effective and efficient student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Negotiate and manage a complex portfolio of grants and contracts to advance AI-driven assessment solutions.
- Design investments to improve data availability and use, ensuring large-scale assessment developers can leverage AI to enhance the assessment experience.
- Cultivate an ecosystem of entrepreneurial product developers, ensuring strong feedback loops between innovative practitioners, researchers, and the developer community.
- Foster a user-centered design approach to understand incentives and needs of end-users, institutional decision-makers, and practitioners.
- Help catalyze additional sources of capital to scale innovation and grow proven solutions.
- Manage collaborative partner relationships, ensuring productive feedback loops around shared goals.
- Provide technical guidance and insights to colleagues on research and development topics in assessment.
- Review grant proposals and provide clear, concise written analyses and recommendations.
- Consult with grantees to improve project impact and ensure grants meet strategy goals.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience leading complex initiatives with budget responsibility.
- Deep understanding of the EdTech market, including key players, market trends, and emerging AI technologies.
- Demonstrated experience using machine learning, AI algorithms, and their applications in educational assessment.
- Understanding of systems architecture relevant to various assessment use cases.
