Job Title: Operating Room Nurse

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a skilled Operating Room Nurse to join our team. As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring a safe and efficient surgical experience.

Job Summary:

The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating patient care delivery by the healthcare team. Using the nursing process, you will assess patients, identify nursing diagnoses, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate patient responses. You will also promote safe passage for patients through the healthcare encounter without preventable complications or delays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards and identify patient and family needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the nursing plan of care, modifying it as needed to meet clinical outcomes.
  • Systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, including nursing-sensitive indicators, and participate in quality/performance improvement initiatives.
  • Creates an attentive, helpful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff.
  • Develops therapeutic relationships with patients and families, maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Manages both physical and emotional pain to promote relief and healing and prevent unnecessary suffering.
  • Recognizes, appreciates, and incorporates patients' and families' unique differences into individualized plans of care.
  • Promotes patient and family education, ensuring they participate in and make informed decisions about their healthcare and treatments.
  • Works collaboratively and interdependently with colleagues and community to develop and implement integrated plans of care.
  • Uses strategies and available resources for problem-solving, considering factors related to safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in planning and delivering patient care.
Requirements:
  • BSN degree required.
  • 1+ year of RN experience in the US, with ability to scrub and circulate.
  • 1+ years of experience in ENT and robotics surgery on the da Vinci XI/da Vinci SP (experience with both is highly preferred but not required).
  • Certification/License/Registration: Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
