Job Summary:
The Certified Medication Aide will administer approved medications as prescribed by the resident's physician and document the administration and effectiveness of the medications. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to speak, read, write, and understand English. The ideal candidate will have a certificate as a Certified Medication Aide and one year of experience as a Residential Care Aide or certified aide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications as prescribed by the resident's physician and document the administration and effectiveness of the medications.
- Observe and report to the nurse any symptoms or conditions of residents that could be related to medication interactions, adverse drug reactions, or medication side effects.
- Determine and record the effectiveness of medications in a timely and accurate manner as required by state and federal regulations.
- Store medications in a safe and accurate manner in accordance with established facilities policies and procedures and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Monitor medications to ensure adequate accountability measures are taken when medications are ordered, received into the facility, administered, and at change of shift as required by facility policies and procedures and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Obtain, record, and report vital signs as indicated during the administration of medications.
Requirements:
- Certificate as a Certified Medication Aide.
- One year of experience as a Residential Care Aide or certified aide.
- Good communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and World Wide Web.
