Job Description

Company Overview: Merenda Wine is a wine bar and retail shop located in a boutique mixed-use project. We are seeking a skilled Bartender to join our team and contribute to our beverage program.

Job Summary: As a Bartender at Merenda Wine, you will be responsible for executing perfectly crafted wine-based cocktails and assisting the serving staff with wine choices for guests. You will be the backbone of our beverage program and will work closely with our team to provide exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming Guests: Provide excellent hospitality to guests, including welcoming and providing information about our menu and wine selection.
  • Identifying Regulars and VIPs: Identify regular guests and communicate with the team to ensure they receive exceptional service.
  • Bar Maintenance: Keep the bar clean and organized, including completing opening and closing side work.
  • Food and Beverage Orders: Take food and beverage orders from guests at the bar, ask about allergies and dietary restrictions, and ring orders in POS with proper coursing and modifiers.
  • Share Plates and Mise en Place: Provide share plates and mise en place as needed.
  • Polishing Glasses: Polish glasses regularly to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
  • Processing Checks: Process checks accurately and ensure credit card slips are signed.

Ideal Candidate: We are seeking a team-oriented and ego-free individual with 2-3 years of full-service restaurant or wine bar experience in a role as bartender. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of wine and other beverages, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a strong sense of urgency. They will also be able to build strong guest relationships and remain positive and composed under pressure.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate will be able to stand and walk for extended periods, handle objects with hands, and lift, move, and carry objects weighing at least 50 pounds throughout the shift.
