Diagnostic Imaging Specialist for Travel MRI Position in Anchorage

About the Role- Job Summary: We are looking for a highly skilled MRI technologist to join our team on a travel assignment in Anchorage. The ideal candidate will have experience operating MRI machines, performing diagnostic imaging procedures, and providing excellent patient care.
- Pre-Procedure Preparation:
- Review Patient Information: Review patient medical history, doctor's orders, and previous imaging studies to ensure accurate procedure execution.
- Patient Education: Explain the MRI procedure to patients, addressing any questions or concerns to reduce anxiety.
- Documentation: Complete necessary documentation, including informed consent forms and patient information.
- Verification: Verify patient identity and screening criteria to ensure safety.
- Room Preparation: Prepare and position the MRI room to ensure machine readiness.
- Conducting MRI Scans:
- Operate MRI Machine: Adjust settings to obtain high-quality images as prescribed by physicians.
- Patient Positioning: Position patients on the MRI table, ensuring comfort and alignment.
- Contrast Agents: Administer contrast agents as prescribed, monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Patient Safety: Ensure patient remains still during scanning to obtain clear images.
- Quality Control: Monitor the MRI process to confirm quality imaging.
- Patient Safety and Comfort:
- Safety Precautions: Verify that no ferrous or metal objects are present on the patient, ensuring magnetic field safety.
- Communication: Keep patients informed during the scan, providing reassurance and instructions.
- Vital Signs: Monitor patient vital signs during the scan to detect potential issues.
- Positioning: Ensure proper patient positioning to avoid injuries or discomfort.
- Post-Procedure Care:
- Post-Scan Instructions: Provide post-procedure instructions, including follow-up treatments and aftercare.
- Scheduling: Ensure required post-scan imaging or additional scans are scheduled as necessary.
- Clinical Assessment: Address immediate concerns or side effects experienced by patients.
- Maintenance and Equipment Care:
- Calibration: Ensure regular calibration of MRI machines, performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary.
- Sanitation: Clean and disinfect the MRI suite and equipment between patients to maintain infection control protocols.
- Equipment Performance: Monitor equipment performance, identifying malfunctions or issues.
- Collaboration with Medical Team:
- Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with physicians, radiologists, and other medical staff to ensure correct image acquisition and patient needs are met.
- Image Review: Work with radiologists to review images, assess need for follow-up scans, and discuss patient conditions.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- EHR Management: Document relevant patient information and scan results in the EHR, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Data Labeling: Properly label and upload imaging data into the system, assisting with reports or communications as needed.
- Radiation Safety and Protocols:
- MRI Safety: Follow guidelines for handling contrast agents and equipment that could pose a risk to patients.
- Radiation Safety Standards: Adhere to radiation safety standards for other imaging technologies used in the department.
- Professional Development and Training:
- Continuing Education: Stay current with the latest MRI technology, scanning techniques, and patient care practices.
- Certification Maintenance: Participate in continuing education programs and obtain necessary certifications to maintain licensure and improve professional skills.
Compensation Package: Based on 12 hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week, the estimated annual salary for this position ranges from $93,000 to $135,000, depending on location and qualifications. This includes tax-free stipend compensation.
