This is an exciting opportunity to join NextGen America as a Texas Field Organizer - Civic Engagement Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for engaging young people in electoral politics by registering thousands of young people to vote across the state.
Key Responsibilities- Voter Registration and Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to register and pledge voters, with a focus on young people on campuses and in the surrounding communities.
- Community Outreach and Partnerships: Build relationships and partnerships with local community and student groups to increase civic participation and voter registration.
- Event Planning and Execution: Plan and host events within the community, on campus, and virtually to engage young people in voter registration efforts and volunteer recruitment.
- Volunteer Management: Recruit and train local volunteers to organize their networks around voter registration drives and get-out-the-vote efforts.
- Data Management and Reporting: Meet all data and field reporting deadlines, and work with the Regional Organizing Director to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Volunteer Deputy Registrar Eligibility: In compliance with Texas state law, an individual being hired into this role will be required to become a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR).
- Strong Communication and Organizational Skills: Ability to work independently and remotely, with excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to adapt to evolving priorities and manage several tasks simultaneously.
- Previous Electoral Organizing Experience: Previous experience in electoral organizing is a plus, but not required.
