About the Role:

The Lamar University is seeking a highly skilled HVAC/R Technician to join our team in the Facilities Maintenance department. As an essential employee, you will be responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial and industrial HVAC/R equipment, including air handlers, fan coil units, VAV boxes, recirculation pumps, and gas-fired boilers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, including air handlers, fan coil units, VAV boxes, recirculation pumps, and gas-fired boilers.
  • Service and repair residential package units, ice machines, and other associated equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and plumbing issues related to HVAC/R equipment.
  • Work cooperatively with other crafts and provide training to subordinate employees.
  • Monitor contracted work and ensure compliance with departmental and university policies.
Requirements:
  • An Associate Degree or completion of a formal technical training program with certification within the field of HVAC or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the HVAC or related field.
  • Certification in a technical training program within the field of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Knowledge of central plant operations, including commercial chillers and associated equipment.
