About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team at the Veterans Health Administration. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our nation's veterans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient-centered care to residents/patients, including activities of daily living, ambulation, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist with serving meals, feeding dependent patients/residents, and utilizing safe patient handling equipment for proper repositioning and/or transferring of veterans.
  • Participate in safety huddle and bedside rounds, taking/documenting vital signs, blood sugar checks, weights, Intake and Output, and reporting abnormal values immediately to covering nurse.
Work Environment

This is a variable shift position, rotating all 3 tours, days/evening AND nights, rotating weekends and holidays. The incumbent will work in multiple units/clinics within the Northeast Ohio VA Health Care System, including Medical and Surgical Intensive Care, Emergency Department, and other specialty areas.

Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Education or Training: Six months of general experience, or one year of education above high school with courses related to the NA occupation, or completion of an intensive, specialized, occupation-related training course of study.
  • English Language Proficiency: Nursing Assistants must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Policy.
