Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled OB/OR Technician to join our team at Carle Foundation Hospital. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will provide clinical expertise in both the delivery room and the OR within Labor and Delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and prepare the Operating Room for surgical procedures.
  • Obtain and set up sterile field with appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Perform under the direction of the physician during operative procedures to prepare the patient's abdomen, drape the sterile field, and pass instrumentation.
  • Perform appropriate instrument counts with RN circulator.
  • Operate stapling device at the request of, and under the direct supervision of, the physician approximating skin closure.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Follow aseptic technique when opening sterile supplies and maintains highest standard of sterile techniques during procedure.
  • Prepare instruments for terminal sterilization after use.
  • Perform patient support duties under the direction of a RN, which may include, but are not limited to: Performs venipuncture, Obtains vital signs, weights, and/or blood glucose, and Collects, labels, and transports specimens.
Requirements
  • Completion of CNA coursework w/in past 24 months, OR Successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program, OR Worked as a CNA w/in past 24 months, OR Successful completion of at least one semester of nursing clinical experiences, OR Documented relevant medical military training.
  • Demonstrates advance knowledge and proficient practice in the first scrub role in a majority of surgical procedures including complex cases.
  • Applies knowledge of advanced surgical techniques and knowledge related to surgical procedures and emergency situations.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills and anticipates the perioperative needs of the patient and surgeon.
  • Exhibits a high level of collaboration with peers in making decisions related to surgical patient care.
