About the Role

Gilead Sciences is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Research Pathology team. As a Research Pathology Intern, you will contribute to high-impact projects that advance our company's mission to create a healthier world for all people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gain exposure to the role of Molecular Pathology in Exploratory Research, specifically in the discovery of new targets and expanding our understanding of disease biology.
  • Learn to execute Spatial Transcriptomics workflows to enable unbiased transcriptional profiling in diseased tissues, across therapeutic areas and disease indications.
  • Participate in a cross-functional research project, including members from Research Pathology, Discovery Biology, and Research Data Sciences.
  • Potential to publish results in a scientific manuscript.
  • Showcase your work with a final poster board presentation near the conclusion of your internship.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.8.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without Sponsorship now or in the future or CPT/OPT through your University.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. based university or college and enrolled in the fall semester after the completion of the internship.
  • Must be a Graduate or Doctoral Student.
  • Must be a Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in undergrad or a Graduate or Doctoral Student.
  • Must be enrolled full-time in the Fall Semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship.
  • Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between May and August.
  • Must be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred Degree qualification: (Masters/PhD)
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to identify issues and seek solutions
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and diversity in the workplace
  • Efficient, organized, and able to handle short timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in Genetics, Genomics and Molecular Biology lab processes
  • Experience with processing of formalin fixed, paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue for staining is desired but not essential
  • Past experience in NGS sequencing library preparation is desired but not essential

Gilead Sciences offers a competitive hourly rate of $55.00. Benefits include paid company holidays, sick time, and housing stipends for eligible employees.
