Job Title: Kitchen Helper

Job Summary:

The Butler County Family YMCA is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to join our team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food preparation and serving activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of meals in accordance with the policies of the Food Program through the Department of Human Services and Department of Health.
  • Prepare and serve food portions suitable for the size and age of the children in care in accordance with the CCFP regulations.
  • Assist with inventory of all equipment and food monthly, ensuring that all foods are stored in an adequate manner and that replacement of damaged materials is timely.
  • Maintain the kitchen area in accordance with the DHS regulations and health Department codes, as well as in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Assist in preparing for special YMCA functions such as Program and Board meetings, Membership events, the Summer Food Program, and any other related functions as requested.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Child Care Cook in their absence.
  • Maintain all equipment and storage areas and adhere to program standards in regards to equipment, storage, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Assist in filling all food orders for off-site Child Care Centers and Summer Camp Programs; assist Child Care staff in preparing for lesson plans involving food items from the kitchen.
  • Attend and participate in center-wide activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
  • Maintain ongoing DHS qualifications required for working in Child Care.
  • Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Work schedule will include daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
