Position Overview:

The Lower School at Milton Academy is in search of a committed individual to join our K-5 Academic Support and After School Program team. This role involves providing educational assistance to K-5 students and overseeing the After School Program.

The ideal candidate will have experience in educational environments or childcare, possess outstanding communication abilities, and be eager to collaborate with lead educators, support personnel, and the After School Program team.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Curriculum Support

  • Execute lesson plans for K-5 students across various settings
  • Assist lead educators during classroom activities
  • Collaborate with homeroom teachers and engage in lesson planning
  • Supervise students during lunch and recess
  • Support students with homework in the After School Program
  • Organize games and activities, particularly within the After School Program
  • Encourage choice and play in the After School Program
  • Guide students to different locations on campus
  • Maintain attendance records for the After School Program
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students
  • Participate in school activities beyond the classroom
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive learning atmosphere
  • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning preferences
  • Stay informed about trends in elementary education
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives
  • Provide mentorship and academic guidance to students
  • Assess student performance and communicate with families
