Job Summary

The National Football League (NFL) is seeking a highly skilled Part-Time Photo Editor to join our team. As a key member of our Photo Department, you will be responsible for curating and editing high-quality visual content for our digital media platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Visual Content Curation: Source and edit image assets for news stories and digital content, including articles, videos, feature art, and photo essays.
  • Image Editing: Edit images for NFL games and tentpole events, ensuring high-quality visuals for our audience.
  • Composite Image Creation: Build composite images using creative templates for feature art, sourcing and cutting out images, and placing them in stylized templates.
  • Photo Capture: Capture still photos for NFL Media shows.
  • Image Archive Management: Assist with maintenance of in-house image archive, applying metadata, and archiving images into our Digital Asset Management system (DAM).
  • Social Media Content: Curate and post images to our photo department Instagram account.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: 2 years of experience in photo editing for digital media, preferably for editorial outlets. Bachelor's degree (or degree in progress) with emphasis in photography or equivalent experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Strong knowledge of best practices for editorial images and captions, ability to handle a large volume of content on deadline, and strong attention to detail.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Photo Mechanic.
  • Availability: Available to work nights and weekends in alignment with NFL game schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Sports Photography: Experience in sports photography preferred.
  • Content Management Systems: Familiarity with content management systems (i.e. Photoshelter), DAM systems, and FTP clients.
  • NFL Knowledge: Passion for the NFL, strong knowledge of NFL news and events.
  • Studio Photography: Knowledge of studio photography a plus.
  • Photography Rights and Licensing: Familiarity with photography rights and licensing.
  • Live Event Coverage: Experience in live event coverage a plus.
Physical Demands and Travel
  • Physical Demands: Potential for moderate lifting of photo gear and lighting setup for photo shoots.
  • Travel: Potential for travel around NFL tentpole events.
Terms and Expected Hours of Work
  • Part-Time Employment: Part-Time, under 30 hours/week.
  • Expected Schedule: Expected schedule is 3 days a week.
  • Availability: Must be available to work nights and weekends, some holidays dependent on NFL game and event schedule.
