About the Role

As a Medical Support Specialist at BioLife Plasma Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our donors. Your primary responsibility will be to determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, and review laboratory test results. You will also be responsible for notifying donors of unsuitable test results and providing guidance on medical or technical issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
  • Manage donor adverse events, including evaluating donor reactions and referring to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs as needed.
  • Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
  • Provide guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
  • Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER.
  • Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Current licensure or certification as an EMT-Paramedic in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfillment of state requirements (in the state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
  • Satisfactory completion of the FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
