Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our team. As a Paraprofessional, you will work closely with students who require instructional and behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, in one-on-one or group settings.
  • Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, such as lesson plans, worksheets, and reinforcement systems.
  • Assist students in general education classes and communicate with teachers to ensure student success.
  • Accompany students during recess, lunch, and community experiences, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to school policies.
  • Participate in behavior management techniques and assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel.
  • Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
  • Report changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEP.
Requirements
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participate in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Hold current CPR certification if applicable.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Complete new hire training as applicable to the job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Possess strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
