Summary:
This position entails a work schedule of 36 hours per week, comprising 12-hour shifts with a rotation between day and night shifts, including every third weekend.

The OB Technician plays a crucial role in the surgical environment by preparing the operating room, assisting the surgeon during procedures, and ensuring a clean and organized workspace. This role also involves supporting the newborn nursery with tasks such as circumcisions and monitoring infants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates the admission process by gathering demographic information and medical history, including allergies and special requirements.
  • Provides personal care and comfort to patients.
  • Executes procedures as per physician directives and nursing delegation, based on verified skills, such as blood and non-blood specimen collection.
  • Coordinates scheduling for tests, therapies, and procedures following established protocols.
  • Handles equipment setup, maintenance, operation, and sanitation according to guidelines, including warmers, fetal monitors, and sterile supplies.
  • Transports patients within the facility as directed by medical staff or patient preferences.
  • Assists in the discharge process for newborns by verifying charts and ensuring all discharge protocols are met.
  • Recognizes high-risk situations and takes appropriate actions in line with standard operating procedures.
  • Performs additional duties as required to support departmental needs.
Certifications Required:
  • Unlicensed Assistive Person - Technician (UAP/T) | North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse | North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) or Compact State Agreement
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) | American Academy of Pediatrics
