About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Documentation Manager to join our Amazon Software Development Center team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive content strategy that supports the success of our developers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hire and grow a team of programmer/technical writers and editors to support our documentation needs.
  • Define the overall content strategy across specific developer tools and end-to-end development workflows.
  • Lead the direction for the documentation authoring tools used by writers and software development teams.
  • Collect feedback from customers on how to improve the documentation and influence the product direction of the tools your team collaborates with.
About the Team

You will be part of the Software Builder Experience organization, which includes product teams located across multiple locations. Our team is committed to furthering our culture of inclusion and has a formal mentor search application to help you find a mentor that works best for you.

Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience in a technical writing role.
  • 5+ years' experience writing for a developer or IT operations (DevOps) audience.
  • 5+ years' experience writing code or automation scripts as part of published documentation.
  • Strong ability to work across teams and groups to accomplish objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with web services.
  • Experience with an object-oriented programming language such as Java, Ruby, or C#.
  • Experience with an automation scripting framework such as bash shell scripting, Windows batch scripting, or Windows PowerShell.
