Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Director Psychiatrist to join our team. As a key member of our mental health team, you will be responsible for providing psychiatric care to our residents, overseeing the psychiatric care of all residents, and ensuring that psychiatric evaluations are performed on each resident within 48 hours of admission.
Key Responsibilities- Provide psychiatric care to residents, including initial evaluations, counseling, and psychotherapy.
- Oversee the psychiatric care of all residents, including reviewing medical concerns and history for potential residents.
- Ensure that psychiatric evaluations are performed on each resident within 48 hours of admission.
- Attend to residents requiring psychiatric assistance while in treatment.
- Facilitate staff trainings on pertinent psychiatric issues and standards.
- Attend weekly treatment team meetings.
- Liaise with staff medical director, clinical director, and other necessary treatment team members.
- Assist Newport Academy outreach team in forging relationships with hospitals.
- Work in collaboration with staff APRN.
- Document patient encounters through weekly progress notes and EMR.
- Manage a caseload and work in conjunction with the rest of the psychiatry team, including APRNs and nursing staff.
- Coordinate psychology services with direct care and clinical staff as indicated.
- Work collaboratively with the psychiatry team regarding shared cases and treatment teams weekly and as needed.
- Assist with providing cross-coverage to psychiatry team cases when needed.
- Assist with patient admissions, including initial evaluations and initial assessment documentation.
- Provide collateral/liaison contact to patient families.
- Provide collateral/liaison contact to outpatient providers for clients.
- Assist with utilization reviews for clients.
- Maintain excellent communication with other members of the clinical team, outpatient providers, and family members.
- Complete discharge recommendation assessments as part of collaborative discharge summaries.
- Work in a collaborative environment, including maintaining requirements of physician collaborative agreements.
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
- Administrative duties, including staff schedules.
- Full-time duties with some on-call responsibilities.
- Doctorate in Medicine (MD).
- Board Certified in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry.
- Licensed in the State.
- Experience with adolescent psychiatry preferred.
- Experience in a residential setting preferred.
- Medical Director/Physician leadership experience preferred.
