Position Overview: We are seeking a New Graduate or Experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team at Duke Raleigh Hospital, a part of Duke University Hospital. This facility has been a cornerstone of healthcare in the region for over 35 years, featuring 204 inpatient beds and a wide range of services, including specialized care in cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience, advanced gastrointestinal, and wound healing.

Unit Details: The South Pavilion 3700 unit focuses on Ortho/Neuro Spine and Neuro Stepdown care, comprising 32 inpatient beds. Our team is committed to achieving a zero-harm environment for our patients, ensuring exceptional care and customer service.

Work Schedule: This full-time position requires 12-hour shifts, with night shifts available. Relocation assistance is offered for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently plan and deliver professional nursing care in alignment with physician directives and established protocols.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to both licensed and unlicensed staff members.
  • Act as a team leader or charge nurse as assigned, ensuring effective patient care delivery.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and support the growth of peers and learners.
  • Identify opportunities for clinical and operational improvements and participate in related initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is required.

Experience: A minimum of twelve months of relevant clinical experience is necessary. Exceptional candidates with six months of experience may be considered.

Licensure: Current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina is mandatory, along with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of nursing practices and the ability to apply the nursing process effectively.
  • Strong assessment skills for both acute and chronic patient needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Proficient in using technology for documentation and patient care management.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
