Position Title: Security Officer (Temporary)

Location: Main Campus

Position Overview:

This is a temporary position within the Police Services department. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of six months of relevant experience. Candidates must be able to obtain a State Certification as a security officer within 180 days of employment and possess a valid driver's license to operate a patrol vehicle.

Work Schedule: The standard shifts include 5:00 am to 3:00 pm, 3:00 pm to 1:00 am, and 7:00 pm to 5:00 am. Hours may vary, and shifts will rotate based on operational needs, with a maximum of 32 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols of the campus to deter criminal activity and ensure building security.
  • Monitor parking facilities to prevent theft and vandalism, issuing citations as necessary.
  • Document daily activities and any irregularities, including property damage or unauthorized individuals.
  • Respond to emergencies by contacting police or fire departments when required.
  • Investigate disturbances and alarms, checking for potential intruders.
  • Assist law enforcement in apprehending suspects when appropriate.
  • Provide security escort services for students and staff.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Compensation: The hiring range for this position is $15.00 per hour.

Working Conditions: This role requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting. Candidates should be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Candidates should possess the ability to enforce laws and regulations effectively, establish constructive relationships, and apply logical reasoning to problem-solving.

Note: This position is essential for maintaining campus safety and security during emergencies or operational disruptions.
