POSITION OVERVIEW

The Housekeeping Assistant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in resident rooms and various facility areas, both inside and outside, under the guidance of the Housekeeping Supervisor. This role is essential in fostering a positive physical and emotional environment for our residents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Housekeeping Assistant, your primary duties will include:
  • Adhering to established cleaning schedules.
  • Coordinating daily cleaning tasks with other departments.
  • Maintaining cleaning equipment and supply carts to ensure they are well-stocked and in good condition.
  • Ensuring proper functioning of lighting fixtures.
  • Assisting colleagues with lifting tasks as needed.
  • Performing cleaning duties such as vacuuming, mopping, polishing, and organizing spaces.
  • Ensuring that residents' rooms are safe, comfortable, and visually appealing while safeguarding their personal belongings.
  • Addressing spills and maintaining cleanliness in all areas as required.
  • Following safety protocols for equipment and cleaning supplies, including proper storage and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Adhering to infection control, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Reporting any hazardous conditions or incidents promptly.
  • Carrying out floor maintenance tasks such as stripping, waxing, and buffing as directed.
  • Cleaning outdoor and storage areas as instructed.
QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for the Housekeeping Assistant position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • Relevant experience to perform the job effectively.
  • Prior experience in a long-term care setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow both verbal and written instructions effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with residents and their families, as well as to collaborate with team members.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Compliance with local health regulations and successful completion of any required post-employment health assessments, including drug screening and background checks.
