We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our healthcare team as an Advanced Patient Care Tech. This role is crucial in providing exceptional patient care and support within our clinical environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Advanced Patient Care Tech will be responsible for:
- Monitoring patients' vital signs and reporting any significant changes to the healthcare team.
- Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of medical equipment.
- Providing support to patients and their families, ensuring a compassionate and respectful approach.
- Maintaining accurate records of patient care and observations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of Basic Dysrhythmias courses is mandatory within three months of employment. Knowledge of Medical Terminology is preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: BLS certification from the American Heart Association is preferred.
SKILLS:
- Experience in cardiac monitoring.
- Proficient in basic computer and typing skills.
- Strong phone etiquette and spelling abilities.
- Fluency in reading, speaking, and writing English.
- Familiarity with operating facsimile and duplicating equipment is a plus.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one year of experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.
SUPERVISION:
The Advanced Patient Care Tech will report directly to the Director or Clinical Manager.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Employees are expected to utilize all available protective equipment when there is a risk of exposure to infectious materials or hazardous substances. The hospital will provide cleaning, repair, and replacement of this protective equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The role primarily involves sitting for extended periods, with the need for regular position changes including standing and walking. The candidate must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and assist in transporting patients weighing over 200 pounds using a wheelchair. Additionally, the ability to listen to multiple conversations while performing other tasks is essential. Tools will be provided to minimize the risk of worker injuries.
