Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the Service Manager to devise an efficient work and travel itinerary, prioritizing customer requirements while considering machine location and parts availability.
  • Identifies issues; repairs or replaces worn and faulty components; installs new assemblies and adjusts devices and controls to rectify malfunctions and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Supplies necessary tools and parts, and organizes facilities for repair tasks, typically at customer locations.
  • Conducts inspections, operates, and tests machinery upon initial delivery, at designated inspection intervals, and after completing repairs to ensure optimal equipment functionality.
  • Communicates with the Service Manager regarding customer details, machine descriptions, malfunction specifics, time spent on tasks, driving, waiting, and mileage for accurate billing and account management.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on generator sets, including changing engine fluids and filters, inspecting AC and DC systems, belts, hoses, exhaust systems, and other components. Responsible for load bank testing and automatic transfer switch evaluations, as well as completing relevant paperwork and checklists for each inspection.
  • Aims to enhance technical expertise through participation in company-sponsored vocational training, annual departmental meetings, and reviewing technical literature.
  • Enhances company reputation by maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring the service vehicle is clean, organized, and well-maintained.
  • Experienced technicians are expected to troubleshoot recurring or complex issues, collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service teams for resolution.
  • Senior technicians may be tasked with training new staff or supervising a team during the assembly or servicing of large units or collaborative repair projects.


Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Physical capability to stoop, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficient in using a multimeter.
  • Possession of personal tools is required.
  • Good computer literacy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to engage with customers on an individual basis.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record to meet corporate insurance requirements. Must be able to obtain at least a Class D driver's license.
  • Willingness to occasionally stay overnight at remote locations.
  • Availability for on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays.


Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience with diesel and/or gas engines, including servicing and repairs.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and familiarity with wiring, including reading diagrams and installing and repairing electrical components and circuits (AC and DC).
  • Experience in power generation is advantageous.
