Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough health assessments and develop comprehensive care plans for patients.
- Collaborate with oncologists to create clinical plans of care, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other treatments.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families to ensure informed decision-making and optimal care outcomes.
- Document patient information and maintain accurate medical records.
- Manage telephone calls and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Provide holistic nursing care to meet the emotional, psychological, informational, spiritual, and practical needs of patients.
- Act as a guide to help patients navigate the complex healthcare system and make informed decisions about their care.
- Stay up-to-date with evidence-based practice and apply current knowledge to provide the best possible outcomes for patients.
- Maintain competence and engage in self-appraisal to ensure ongoing learning and professional growth.
- Model the REACH values of Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion, and Honor.
- Associates degree in Nursing.
- One to two years' experience with electronic medical records systems.
- PREFER: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- PREFER: Medical oncology experience.
- Cancer-specific knowledge and clinical expertise in cancer care.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age of the patient served on the nursing unit or by patient care departments.
- MS Excel, Presentation skills.
- Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
- PREFER: Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) certification or achieved within 24 months of hire.
Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
Occupational: Some occupational risk.
Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force.
Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions.
