Job Summary

The Drosophila Genomics Resource Center at Indiana University Bloomington is seeking a skilled Web Developer to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for redesigning, implementing, and maintaining the center's website. This is a part-time position that requires a strong understanding of web development principles, including front-end development, database concepts, and Python programming. The ideal candidate will have experience with Flask Web Development, Postgresql, and Unix development. Additionally, they should possess excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision as part of a research team.

Responsibilities

The Web Developer will be responsible for:
  • Redesigning and implementing the center's website to improve user experience and functionality.
  • Maintaining the website's codebase, ensuring it remains up-to-date and secure.
  • Collaborating with the research team to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements.
  • Providing technical support and training to the research team as needed.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with Python programming, front-end development, and database concepts.
  • Expertise in making web pages, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
  • Experience with Unix development, Flask Web Development, and Postgresql.
  • Ability to read and write code in Perl, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Expertise in user experience and design.
