Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at Texas Health HEB. As a Patient Care Technician, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families in the Intermediate Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to patients according to their plan of care.
  • Collect patient data, identify and report significant findings to the nurse.
  • Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Provide and revise patient activities of daily living based on patient and family preferences.
  • Perform technical procedures safely and proficiently.
  • Take action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
  • Enter orders into the computer or manual system if applicable.
  • Document accurately and appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the nurse to adapt care to reflect the patient population.
  • Incorporate cultural and religious needs and beliefs into the delivery of care.
  • Keep the patient environment clean and maintain a safe environment.
  • Anticipate patient, family, and visitor needs and take action to meet those needs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Current TX CNA or PCT training with NHA, NAHP, or NCCT, or an accredited community college program, or THR-approved program
  • Current EMT for TX, or Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B), or 1 year of applicable PCT experience in lieu of an active and approved certification, or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program
  • Previous hospital experience is preferred
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required
