Job Summary:

As a Medical Assistant II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed provider. Your primary responsibilities will include performing routine patient care tasks, such as vital signs, wound care, and medication administration, while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure, and document results accurately.
  • Assist with wound care, including cleaning and dressing wounds, and provide patient education on self-care procedures.
  • Administer medications, excluding IV medications, as ordered by the provider, and monitor patient response to therapy.
  • Perform laboratory tests, including urine dip-sticks, hemoccult tests, and other diagnostic tests as required.
  • Collect and preserve specimens for testing, including urine, sputum, and stool.
  • Participate in Department Quality Assurance activities to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Perform other duties as required, including checking patient medical records for incomplete data and relaying messages to staff personnel.
Requirements:
  • Vocational Nurse License (California)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique.
  • Ability to give and follow verbal and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management systems.
Work Environment:

This is an 8-hour position with variable hours, 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM. May be required to float to other Central locations. Weekend shifts are required.
