As a Medical Assistant II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed provider. Your primary responsibilities will include performing routine patient care tasks, such as vital signs, wound care, and medication administration, while adhering to established policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure, and document results accurately.
- Assist with wound care, including cleaning and dressing wounds, and provide patient education on self-care procedures.
- Administer medications, excluding IV medications, as ordered by the provider, and monitor patient response to therapy.
- Perform laboratory tests, including urine dip-sticks, hemoccult tests, and other diagnostic tests as required.
- Collect and preserve specimens for testing, including urine, sputum, and stool.
- Participate in Department Quality Assurance activities to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Perform other duties as required, including checking patient medical records for incomplete data and relaying messages to staff personnel.
- Vocational Nurse License (California)
- Basic Life Support
- Ability to work effectively with the public and demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique.
- Ability to give and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Experience working in a clinical setting.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management systems.
This is an 8-hour position with variable hours, 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM. May be required to float to other Central locations. Weekend shifts are required.
