Position: Early Head Start Lead Educator

Location: South Los Angeles & Compton areas

We are seeking a passionate and mission-oriented Early Head Start Lead Educator to guide, mentor, and empower teaching staff in their ability to assess and comprehend the developmental needs of the children in their care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer constructive feedback in a supportive and non-critical manner, enhancing the teaching staff's capacity to observe children's interactions and experiences as part of the continuous assessment process, and utilize this information to tailor the curriculum accordingly.
  • Assess classroom quality utilizing the Early Childhood Education Rating Scale (ECERS) and other evaluation tools.
  • Create opportunities for children to express their creativity and explore various media through art, music, and drama across all program areas.
  • Maintain an engaging, well-organized, and safe classroom environment; develop strategies to ensure the safety of children while utilizing both indoor and outdoor facilities.
  • Conduct inspections of facilities for potential hazards, unsafe equipment, and materials; adhere to an emergency exit plan and execute monthly emergency drills.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in early childhood education or child development; or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 24 ECE coursework units equivalent to a major in early childhood education, alongside experience teaching preschool-age children.
  • Possession of or eligibility for a Child Development Permit at the Teacher Level or higher, to be submitted within six months of employment.
  • CLASS certification is required and must be maintained annually.
Special Requirements:

Valid California driver's license, motor vehicle, and proof of automobile liability insurance. Compliance with State health regulations, including passing a physical examination as a condition of employment, and providing verification of TB clearance upon employment. CPR and Basic First Aid certification are also required. Fingerprint clearance must be on file with the Justice Department.
